This was an absolute jackpot: four upgrades on a transcon red-eye meant great sleep for us and our 6 year olds after a long layover in Seattle to see friends. Wife and her companion kid had one person on the waitlist ahead of them also. We hate Amateur Night (NYE) anyway so this good luck will definitely put late night on 12/31 at the top of our preferred travel times.

Well this is a first. Flight attendant just told me I'm the only one in first class. I checked the wait-list and it appears to be empty. When I cleared a few days ago at least one other seat was previously occupied but they must have SDC'd or something.

Started out as #2 on WL with two seats remaining, then someone pushed me down to #3, #1 and #2 cleared and I was looking like I would clear from #1 (1 person hadn't checked in and looked no show likely), then at T-3 someone appeared above me on the WL and got a battlefield upgrade into 1F.
Ended up in PC 8A and got the (cappuccino-flavored!) chocolate, which is a nice comfort given the dual IRROPS disasters this weekend with northeast weather and MAX9 groundings.

Sitting in Premium, my wife and I, #1,2 on the waitlist, noticed on the flight’s status webpage that two seats in F had opened up. So with the door still open and as the weight balance was a concern, the FAs wheeled in the GAs to authorize the upgrades for us. A pleasant start to 2024. 😊
